Kite – German Design Award Winner 2020
Once again, Kite won an international design award. This time the German Design Award 2020 in the category Excellent Product Design – Office Furniture. Kite is a stylish designed recycling piece / bin that fits into many environments, today you can find Kite in many shopping centers, offices and public places. We have also seen an increased need for recycling on a smaller scale, like hotels and conference rooms which gave birth to the idea of Kite mini. Kite mini is simply a mini version of Kite.
TreCe and Annica Doms at Studio Doms are of course very happy about this award, and we are also very pleased by the jury’s motivation;
Statement of the jury
These high-quality waste bins catch the eye with their particularly elegant design language. Thanks to the different angles of their layouts, they can easily be arranged in groups or placed individually in both right-angled and odd-angled corners and niches. The option of having different openings makes separating waste simple.
Kite is a flexible solution for recycling. It is built from a basic module that can be assembled into customised combinations. Its unique shape consists of 60°, 90° and 120° angles and, thus, can be either free-standing in a room or placed in corners of different angles. A detail is the sloping short side, which lends the waste bin a distinctive profile. The body is made of impact-resistant, powder-lacquered sheet steel. Lid in vacuum-foiled MDF with screen-printed symbols.
