History of TreCe - 50 years

It was in 1973 that it all started. More precisely, on 28 May. Göran Carnock had the ambition to manufacture and sell storage and archive shelves in pine and ran the company for a number of years with that range. Business flourished. A few years later, his sons Anders and Claes joined the company. With three Cs in their surnames, the name TreCe was created.

After a few years, Göran decided to retire, and the company was taken over by his sons Claes and Anders. Anders had other ideas about what he wanted to do, so Claes was the one who continued to run TreCe. This gave Claes the idea of creating a furniture line for office storage that was flexible and could easily be adapted to most needs. CombiLine was born and became a great success. Now the company really started to take off and several people were hired to cope with the high demand for TreCe's products.

Ideas about broadening the business took shape and at the same time, TreCe was contacted by Annica Doms, a student at Umeå University, Industrial Design Programme. She wanted to develop a product together with TreCe as her degree project. A product began to take shape and after some time the waste-sorting furniture Kite emerged. Kite became a success, and the following year Kite won the Red Dot Award. This paved the way for the success of the product even today. Due to the increasing demand, the company developed in both size and range to today have a complete storage and waste sorting range for offices and public environments.

The collaboration with Annica and her partner David continued with several other successful products. Birdie, Place, Soft, Ridge and others. As part of this, TreCe expanded by having two different product lines. Storage and Waste Sorting.

The storage section currently consists of two product series. CombiLine for general storage and the Space product line for personal storage. Over the years, these product ranges have been developed and adapted to meet today's needs.

Regarding recycling and waste bins, several products have emerged and several of them have been awarded international design prizes due to their design and innovative features. The most recent awards were for the Popsicle and Hightower products. They were both winners of the German Design Award 2023, both designed by Jangir Maddadi.

The 2023 Furniture Fair introduced the KLOSS and Etage products. Both products are based on great flexibility. Both works as individual products or in groups. This allows them to be easily customised according to customer needs. KLOSS is designed by Kauppi & Kauppi and Etage is designed by Bernstrand & Berselius.
